DIAT is a Deemed to be University under the Department of Defence Research & Development (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India.Establishment & History: DIAT was established in 1952 (originally as the Institute of Armament Studies) and was moved to its present location in Girinagar, Pune, in 1967. It received its present name in 2006.Mission: Its primary mission is to be a center of excellence for education, training, and research in contemporary and futuristic defense-related technologies to strengthen national security and achieve self-reliance.
